Lincoln City Reward Consistent Defender With New Contract

Lincoln City have today announced that Tom Hamer has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the club until the summer of 2029.

The defender has taken part in every one of City’s League One fixtures so far this season.

Unsung Hero

Hamer joined the Imps from Burton Albion in 2024 and has taken his place this season in the heart of a defence marshalled by the experienced trio of Sonny Bradley, Adam Reach and captain Tendayi Darikwa.

It could be argued that the 26-year-old largely goes under the radar, and even that he would not be in the side had it not been for the absence of Adam Jackson.

However, the former Oldham Athletic defender is one of the Imps’ most consistent performers this season and has even added a goal and five assists for his team.

Hamer is strong in the tackle, fiercely competitive in the air and has even contributed going forward by creating almost 30 opportunities for his teammates.

City’s sporting director, Jez George, told the club’s official website of the ease with which the club decided to extend Hamer’s deal.

“This is a no-brainer for us. Tom is coming into the prime years of his career; he has performed at a consistently high level all season, and his long throw also provides us with an important attacking threat within our game model.”

“Tom also fits our profile of what we look for in a ‘Lincoln City player’.  He is understated, committed, aggressive and effective, and we feel that he can easily be overlooked, underrated and undervalued outside our club but certainly not by our staff, players and fans.”

“He has been a massive part of what we have achieved so far this season, and Tom has a massive role to play in what we hope to achieve in the future.”

Hamer himself expressed his delight at securing an extension to a deal that was due to run out in the summer of 2027.

“I’m really happy to have got everything sorted, as soon as I heard about the possibility of extending my time here, I knew it was something I wanted to do.”

“The staff, players and supporters make this a great club to be at, and I’m really pleased to have committed my future here long-term.”

Imps Preparing For Next Season

Lincoln City may not know which division they will be playing in next season, but they have already made moves to secure some of their top performers.

Hamer joins the likes of Adam Reach, James Collins and Dom Jefferies, who have all signed extensions to their current deals in recent weeks.

The Imps head to Wales for a top-of-the-table clash with Cardiff City tomorrow lunchtime, looking to leapfrog the Bluebirds and maintain the buffer between themselves and the chasing pack.
